There must just be something about February that makes me want to just jump into April or May! I SERIOUSLY can not wait until spring and I got this crazy feeling yesterday of not being able to wait to meet this baby! I thought that this pregnancy would just pass by me while I chased after my (almost) 2 year old, but no! All of the sudden it seems like everything is moving in slow motion, winter will never end and I’ll be pregnant forever! I think it is just that the daily routine isn’t my favorite right now (I live with my family at the moment) and I feel like it is just going to be this never ending cycle of the same thing every day. Well, no point in moaning on about the little things right?! Honestly, I am happy. I have family, food, a house to live in, clothing and friendship. I hope everyone is having a good February so far!

How far along? 22 weeks!
Total weight gain: According to my non-digital scale I still weigh 147LBS! If I were to say my starting weight with this pregnancy was 135 that would be 12lbs gained!
Maternity clothes?  I started wearing my old nursing tank tops this week and I bought two maternity tops, a maternity sweater and a maternity sweatshirt this week! I also bought another pair of maternity jeans. I am hoping I will be all set for the rest of this pregnancy!
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I a sleeping fine, but it is getting more and more difficult to share a bed with a toddler!
Best moment this week: Buying some maternity clothing that makes me feel cute and comfortable.
Miss anything? Warmer weather and having our own place.
Movement: Yes, off and on throughout the week, still no pattern yet!
Food cravings: Thai food!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still eggs, cheese and shrimp, but I try to eat eggs anyway.
Gender: Boy
Labor signs: No
Symptoms: Intense heartburn and bloating/gas!
Belly button in or out? In, but sometimes half out.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired
Looking forward to: Being able to go outside without a jacket.
Compared to 1st pregnancy: The PGP is bad and I am not working out like I was with Emeline at 22 weeks.

Stay tuned for a new update next Saturday!

Starting next week I am going to try to post these earlier! My pictures are late on this one because Emeline has been sick with either HFMD or chickenpox! It has been rough because it is in her throat and she hasn’t slept for three nights! I hope tonight we can all get some sleep and she kicks this illness soon!

I hope you enjoy my 21 week update!

How far along? 21 weeks!
Total weight gain: 147lbs, I FINALLY weighed myself!
Before I got pregnant I weighed somewhere between 130-135lbs. My weight before Emeline was always 128-130lbs and I got pretty close to normal for myself following her birth. However, I am going to say I was a bit closer to 135lbs because of all the stress from moving and how I completely stopped working out. I am also certain I ate more! So, it lookes like a 12lbs gain so far. By this time with Emeline I had gained almost nothing.
Maternity clothes?  Still just maternity jeans. I might need to start looking for longer shirts though as my t-shirts are starting to get a bit short. I usually wear a size XS/S, so with growing boobs and a tummy they tend to get short rather quickly during pregnancy for me.
Stretch marks? Nope
Best moment this week: Getting our car back!
Miss anything? The Sun! This whole weak has been just gloomy and gray.
Movement: I feel him move the most just when I wake up and in the evening somewhere between 10-11:30 for about 3-5 minutes. I am also starting to feel some kicks during the day here and there, which is really exciting for me!
Food cravings: I have had the BIGGEST sweet tooth this week!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eggs and strong cheeses!
Gender: Boy
Labor signs: No, and I really don’t have a lot of Braxton Hicks like I did with Emeline. I thought I would this time too, but no.
Symptoms: Heartburn, gas and PGP, but that is easing up a bit, so I think I can start working out again!
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: TIRED!
Looking forward to: Emeline not being sick anymore!
Compared to 1st pregnancy: I am having a lot more symptoms this time around. My skin is also REALLY dry. I think my diet needs an overhaul, but it is difficult when you live in someone else’s house with so many people, especially when they are vegetarian and you are not. I feel awkward making something only for myself and a bit selfish doing it too.

Stay tuned for my 22 week update next Saturday!

20 weeks, I am half way through! I feel like, at this point, I can relax a bit about something going wrong. I am a bit of a pessimist my hubby says, but I prefer to think of myself as a realist. I am always preparing for the worst just in case something goes wrong. I want to be ready. I think it is just my mind’s way of protecting itself, but I have had two ultrasounds where they said everything looks good. This is even considering that I didn’t feel great walking away from my 20 week scan. The technician was a bit different, barely said anything and looked at the heart for so long! On top of that I have carried a baby to full term before with no issues and I am going to do everything I can to keep this pregnancy as good as it can be with kick counts, a healthy diet and exercise (back permitting or course)!

How far along? 20 weeks, HALF WAY!!
Total weight gain: I don’t know and to be honest I don’t really want to :/
Maternity clothes?  I found an old pair of maternity jeggings from when I was pregnant with Emeline! I am happy to have at least one more option to wear! All of my t-shirts are getting a bit short though :/ I have to wear a tank top underneath them!
Stretch marks? Nope
Best moment this week: Doing a sit down video for my vlog about my early sign and symptoms of pregnancy!
Miss anything? Warm weather. The cold weather and ice are starting to get to me. Where is the snow? Isn’t this Norway?
Movement: I felt more movement on Monday and Wednesday I think, but Thursday nothing and Friday only one solid punch. I can’t wait to feel more movement soon, darn anterior placenta! I hope this baby is a bit more active than miss Emeline was. I feel like she NEVER moved and I had to do extra kick counts! Towards the end I was able to feel her move her hands and that made things easier.
Food cravings: Vinegar! I don’t know why, but I swear could drink it this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just eggs still.
Gender: Boy
Labor signs: I feel like I have gotten a few Braxton Hicks contractions, but with Emeline I had them regularly starting at 15 weeks, so that is normal for me.
Symptoms: Heartburn, crying very easily, gas, PGP, extremely tired, irritable
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: I have actually been really irritable this week 🙁
Looking forward to: Going to bed!
Compared to 1st pregnancy: I am showing more now than I was with Emeline at this point.

(I took these photos at night after dinner, so I don’t know how accurate they are of the bump. I am going to try to take them in the morning from now on.)

Stay tuned for my 21 week update on Saturday!

Posted on January 24, 2017 in Mommy

I never kept up any weekly pregnancy updates (or any updates for that matter) when I was pregnant with Emeline and now I wish I had! I have recently re-discovered a pregnancy blog that I found when I was first pregnant and I really like the way she did her weekly pregnancy updates. For memories and for my friends and family abroad I think I am going to start blogging my weekly updates too starting now with week 19!

(As a note, I don’t have an official due date because I have three different dates according to my period, my 12 week ultrasound and my 19 week ultrasound, so I will be doing these every Saturday. Personally, I tend to follow more of a due period rather than a due date because baby is considered full-term at 37 weeks and can come at any time between 37-42 weeks!)

How far along? 19 weeks!
Total weight gain: To be honest I am not completely sure. I believed I weighed somewhere between 130-135lbs before I got pregnant and I haven’t weighed myself since! I know I have gained weight much too fast on account of moving, really bad PGP and feeling horrible during the first 4 months! I am back to working out again and eating healthier!
Maternity clothes?  Yes, jeans! I have been wearing maternity jeans since 15 weeks! I showed much earlier with this pregnancy. With Emeline I never even bought maternity clothing! I am still fitting into many of my tops.
Stretch marks? No
Best moment this week: Feeling some serious baby kicks on Wednesday and seeing baby on my ’20 week’ ultrasound on Friday!
Miss anything? Liking and being able to eat all different foods and proper working out!
Movement: A bit here and there. I started feeling this baby at 13 weeks and I got so excited. Then it sort of went away.  Since then my placenta has gone from fundal to anterior (again) and I will usually have one or two days where I feel movement maybe 5 or so times and then 4 days with nothing or maybe one possible movement.
Food cravings: No, unlike in the 1st trimester!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eggs often make me feel sick for some reason.
Gender: BOY! It was confirmed on Friday! They did the nub test at the 12 week scan and she was certain it was a boy because he was in the perfect position and lying still, so she was able to get a perfect look!
Labor signs: No, THANKFULLY!
Symptoms: Heartburn, crying very easily, gas/bloating (every day at 4pm even if I haven’t ate anything), PGP, extremely tired
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy 🙂 (and tired)
Looking forward to: Getting my letter in the mail, so I can schedule my midwife appointment! I need to go see the midwives where I am going to give birth. That is how it works in Norway.
Compared to 1st pregnancy: With my first pregnancy I felt amazing at 19 weeks. The only complaint I had at was little to no movement (anterior placenta then too) and sometimes a metal taste in my mouth!

Stay tuned for my 20 week update on Saturday!

(There isn’t a place in our cabin that isn’t full of stuff, sorry!)

11 Month Baby Update!

Posted on April 25, 2016 in Mommy

So, in pretty much one month my little bean will be a year old, but until that time let’s check out what has happened over the past month!

We actually had Emeline’s one year review yesterday, so as of March 15th she weighs XX and is 72cm (2ft 4in) tall. This is the first time we have gotten a length/height measurement. In England they don’t do them until the one year review.

Daily Routine:

Since it is getting lighter out earlier Emeline has gone from waking at 7 to waking between 6 – 6:30 every morning. We don’t have curtains on one of our windows and so we might get some. Once she wakes up she plays for about 30 minutes and then we have breakfast. We try for a nap after that, but sometimes nap isn’t until 10. She normally takes two naps a day, but they are never longer than 40 minutes and she is ALWAYS really tired after waking up from her second nap. It is impossible to get her back to sleep or have her take a third nap. Because of this she still goes to bed early, anywhere from 430 – 630. If she isn’t sleeping she is eating or playing.

Sometimes she is exceptionally difficult to soothe to sleep and other times she drops off in minutes. She wakes every hour to two hours until we head up to bed and then she will either sleep through or wake only once in the night or early morning to eat. However, the past three nights this is simply NOT the case and she has woken at 3am or 2am and takes 2 hours to get back to bed. We are zombies.

Emeline MUST feed herself, so everything is pretty much finger food. I am terrified of her choking and so it is all pretty small bites. This past Saturday she snatched Alvin’s egg sandwich at a friend’s birthday party and ate it! Her favorite foods are broccoli, strawberries, cheese and mushrooms. She loves to much on large bits of celery, cucumber and apple. We don’t eat fluffy sandwich bread really, but if Emeline gets a hold of it at a party or something it is the best thing in the world. It’s pretty much cake.

Emmie really does have a baby body, big tummy, little feet, double chin, the lot! She is in the 50% percent for weight and only 25% for height and head circumference. We are still able to get away with some old onsies, but we buy 1-2 year clothing.

We are certainly at the age now where personality shines through, a LOT!
Here is a little bit of what Emeline is like. She is the kind of baby who likes to observe and learn. She is not as interested in getting from one place to another as she is in learning about every detail of everything. She is not afraid of anything per-say, but she certainly gives people a good once or twice over before giving them anything other than a nice hard stare.
She likes to do things in her own time. If you try to give her a toy she won’t play with it until you ignore it. This is also the same when it comes to milestones. When she wants to, she will, not before she is ready. She thinks about consequence more than any baby I have been around before. For example, she will stand without support as long as she doesn’t realize, but the moment she sees that you are not holding her she falls. She will tell you exactly what she wants in any way she can and for being raised bilingual she has a good amount of words already.
Emeline isn’t serious all the time because she does love to laugh and she loves a good game of hide and seek. She prefers to play and be with mommy and daddy, but she will certainly entertain herself if left to her own devices. Books are the best, but cats and dogs are the greatest things in the history of ever.

  • Assisted walking and unassisted standing (sometimes). This started about a week or two ago I think.
  • Throwing a ball back to you overhanded or sliding a car on wheels back to you.
  • More words: we can add ‘book’ to her vocabulary
  • TWO TEETH!! She got her bottom front two teeth just after she turned 10 months!
  • Waving hello and goodbye
  • A much better understanding of all sentences phrases we use
  • She has very good fine motor skills and problem solving skills
  • Giving cuddles or kisses, but this is only seldom. Most of the time she wants nothing to do with this kind of stuff.
